Corax

     The natural bounty of the Mytril, a rare metal called Corax, can be used to create equipment with enhanced properties. Corax is a green-tinged metal that people from all over the four empires seek out for its’ beauty, strength, and magical capabilities.  Deep in the mines of Greenstone quarry, there is a chant that never ends. An eternal humming that reverberates against the walls of the mine and shakes the bones of any who enter. A sacred and ancient duty is being performed there and no jade eagle would risk the shame of disrupting it. The extraction of corax is a Divine responsibility that predates the forming of the Jade Eagle Empire. Lost legends claim that millennia ago there was a colossal beast that wandered the land for thousands of years and when she finally laid down for her eternal slumber, her spine became the Corax Mountains, and the Corax which lies within is her blood. Today few believe this tale but the mining of Corax is as revered as it has ever been.

     Conditions in the mines are different from what you might expect. Workers rotate in short shifts so that they can maintain optimal focus. They are highly compensated for their labor and treated with the kind of respect most empires would reserve for their decorated veterans. In addition to miners, the mines are populated with warrior monks who protect the highly valuable product as well as lead a sacred chant day and night, blessing the workers and Corax they extract.
